PSI and Partners Host International Journalists Covering Malaria Progress in Cambodia
Historic progress has been made in the fight against malaria with millions of dollars spent on funding treatment and prevention programs around the world. Substantial economic growth has been seen in regions with decreased malaria cases, especially in the Greater Mekong Sub-region, including the six states of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and Yunnan Province China. While the region has made progress against malaria, the fight has flared once again against drug-resistant strains of the disease. Recently, in partnership with Malaria No More and the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), PSI brought several international journalists to Cambodia to cover the importance of the fight against malaria in the region.
The trip gave journalists access to various programs PSI and partners are implementing to eradicate malaria, and the opportunity to hear from health experts and officials on the progress made in the country.
