PSI Hosts its First Global Governance Summit
By Annie Davies, Special Assistant to the Executive, PSI
PSI believes development is best when it is locally-rooted and draws from global best practices. So we are proud of our robust, global network of locally-governed organizations across the PSI world. United by this strong network, we strive to maximize our health impact, source and scale the best innovations, and continually improve approaches that make it easier for people to lead healthier lives.
In July 2016, seventeen Board Chairs from across PSI’s network met in Washington D.C. for our first Global Governance Summit. During the three-day workshop on governance, participants explored new leadership models and developed a declaration of best practices to guide PSI boards. Thought-leaders and influencers from PSI’s partner organizations including, Kyle Peterson, Managing Director of FSG, Raj Kumar, Founding President & Editor-in-Chief of Devex, and Susan Reichle, Counselor to USAID, presented on the future of development at the Summit.
Karl Hofmann, President and CEO of PSI, reflected, “PSI has a long history of utilizing national expertise in the countries where we work. Based on the engaged and lively discussions we had this week, I am pleased to see this practice strengthened and look forward to stronger governance practices among our PSI-affiliated Boards.”
