On International Women’s Day 2016, Women Deliver announced the films that have been invited to screen at the 2016 Arts and Cinema Corner, a special feature of the Women Deliver 2016 Global Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark. Supporting Women Deliver’s message of improving the health, rights, and well-being of girls and women, the selected films aim to connect conference participants to these key global issues. The conference’s Cinema Corner began at the 2010 conference in Washington, DC and continued at the 2013 Kuala Lumpur conference. The selected films will be screened over three days. Nearly 200 inspiring films spanning all genres and regions of the world were entered, including films submitted by UN/NGO agencies and Oscar/Emmy-winning production companies.
Among the lengthy list of stellar entries from genres including documentaries, narrative, music videos, PSAs, trailers, scene selects, and more, PSI was invited to showcase its short film “Ensuring Healthier Futures for Mothers and Children in Nicaragua”. Created in partnership with Novo Nordisk, World Diabetes Foundation and PSI’s network member, the Pan American Social Marketing Organization (PASMO), the film highlights a first-of-its-kind program that seeks to address gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) as a public health issue in Nicaragua and to provide a life-saving intervention for mothers and children.
Learn more about the program and how it is alleviating this global issue. And if you can’t make the screening at Women Deliver, watch the film below.
